Shaffaq's Maiden Speech

Shaffaq Mohammed gave his maiden speech in the House of Lords yesterday, saying “I owe everything I have achieved to the resistance of my parents, the kindness of strangers who believed in me and the opportunities afforded by this great country. It is now my privilege to give back."
Shaffaq was a Lib Dem MEP 2019 - 2020, and previously stood as Lib Dem candidate in Sheffield at three general elections. He was our group leader on Sheffield City Council 2011-2014.
He was formally introduced to the House of Lords as Baron Mohammed of Tinsley on 21 February 2025
